Dr. Kok Cheong WONG

Dr. Kok Cheong WONG (KC)

CEO, Founder

Dr. Kok Cheong WONG (KC) received his B.Eng. in Electronics and Electrical Engineering and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Surrey, UK in 1989 and 1993, respectively. He has won many local and international awards for contributions to technical journals as well as for directing animated short film.

Prior to founding Sparky Animation Pte Ltd, he was an Associate Professor at Nanyang Technology University, Singapore from 1993 to 2006. During his tenure at the University, Dr. Wong was the Director of the Centre for Graphics and Imaging Technology from 1998 to 2004. KC had also worked, during his sabbatical, at Digital Domain as a Technical Director (Animation Pipeline) and is recognized for his contribution to Time Machine (2000) and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). He is also an Alias Certified Maya Instructor and has conducted Maya courses.

He also had many key roles in the following animation shows: Zigby, Freej, Veggie Tales: Big River Rescue, 3-2-1 Penguins, and Ten Commandments.

In addition, he has co-produced an animated TV series with Jim Henson Company called The Dinosaur Train. This has scored very high viewership in PBS’ & has also been selected by Hollywood’s renowned ‘People Magazine’ as the Top Kids’ Show 2010. Whilst another co-production show of his, Mr. Moon, received high ratings when broadcasted on Playhouse Disney (UK), local Canadian broadcasters TV Ontario, Knowledge Network and SCN.

Currently, he is in the midst of co-producing the following animation TV series’: Season 2 of Dinosaur Train, Jack and Fleabag Monkeyface.

Goh Chun Hoong

Goh Chun Hoong (Hoong)

Animation Supervisor

Part of Sparky’s pioneering team, Hoong is an all-round CG expert. His expertises comprise of facial rig, fur, animation, lighting and compositing. With his experience and cheerful disposition he is tasked to lead and train the ever-expanding animation team. Under his leadership, the animation team is inspired and motivated to produce high quality works under challenging production schedules.

Goh Chun Keong

Goh Chun Keong (Keong)

Asset Supervisor, Lighting Supervisor, Effects Supervisor

Keong is another all-round CG expert and pioneer at Sparky whose expertises lie in modeling and surfacing works. Keong gives direction in lighting and visual effects as well, and is heavily involved in almost every aspect of production. He would also supervise the animation team whenever a tight schedule demands it. Keong’s easy-going manner and tack in engaging participation of members of all production divisions provide an interactive platform for all to relate to one another proactively. In turn this minimizes retakes, creates an efficient work-flow, thus honoring our commitment to high quality deliverables without going over budget or time.

Teo How Jiann

Teo How Jiann (Jiann)

Technical Lead, Rendering Supervisor, IT Manager

With his multi-tasking and analytical brain, Jiann takes care of all aspects of production’s technical needs. While his standardization and generalization principles go against the freedom and inventive spirit of animation production, his skilful administration in optimizing the work-flow and development of the pipeline and tools make achieving tight production schedules with limited production resources a possibility. His leadership and strong work ethics give confidence to the team, empowering them to solve challenging production issues while meeting deadlines without compromise on quality.

Gun Yoon Cheong

Gun Yoon Cheong (Gun)

Pre-production Supervisor, Animation Supervisor

Gun acquired 3D production knowledge quickly, albeit coming from a 2D background, driven by his passion and his strong foundation in traditional arts. His precious experience as a “3D outsider” has provided a refreshing perspective to Sparky’s 3D veterans while producing various animation shows. With his great art sense and his attention to detail, Gun is, without doubt, the best candidate to lead the pre-production and publicity team. He plays a dual role in supervising the animation team as well. His patience, guidance and liberal sharing of opinions are pertinent in nurturing cohesive pre-production, publicity and animation teams.
