Established in 2006, with its headquarters in Singapore, Sparky Animation is an accomplished animation production and content development company, which is renowned for its capability in co-production, work-for-hire and creation of original Intellectual Properties.
Sparky Animation has proven to be highly efficient and competent in delivering outsourced animation projects. Besides production, Sparky Animation is also in the business of Programme Distribution and Licensing & Merchandising of Media Properties.
We have been producing truly high quality shows that are augmented by our proprietary technology and pipeline management systems for animation production, which allows us to attain shorter production time at more competitive costs. Many shows have been produced this way and some are already being or soon to be aired on the world’s best broadcasters such as PBS (USA), Disney (UK), TVO, NBC, ABC (Australia), TVNZ (New Zealand), TVO, YTV and CBC (Canada), Dubai TV, France 5, KBS (Korea) and many others. The shows include co-production projects such as Dinosaur Train and Mr Moon, outsourced service projects such as Zigby, Freej and Henry Hugglemonster, Direct-to-DVD features like Veggie Tales: Huckleberry Larry & Tomato Sawyer’s Big River Rescue, and even series’ for TV and the Internet namely, Freej Quiz Show: The Book of Riddles.
Season 5 of Freej has also been completed for broadcast on Dubai TV by September 2013. Our studio also worked on the previous 2 seasons of Freej; one of the most successful animated shows in the Middle East.
In 2009, we completed production of an animated TV series called Mr. Moon. This is a tripartite co-production between Singapore’s Sparky Animation, UK’s Skaramoosh and Canada’s Title Entertainment. Mr. Moon made its debut on Playhouse Disney (UK) and Canadian broadcasters TV Ontario, Knowledge Network and SCN. In 2011, Mr Moon received high viewership when the show debuted on ABC in Australia and TVNZ in New Zealand. The show was subsequently dubbed into Korean and shown on KBS in South Korea. In Singapore, to-date Mediacorp’s OKTO channel has shown multiple reruns of Mr Moon on its Kids Programme and has been available on Toggle since August 2013. Mr Moon themed consumer products and merchandise were launched in 2012.
We have also co-produced an animated TV series with the Jim Henson Company entitled Dinosaur Train. This has scored the highest viewership in PBS’ entire history & has also been selected by Hollywood’s renowned People Magazine as the Top Kids’ Show. In October 2011, we completed production on Season 2 of the Dinosaur Train Series. The new season premiered in the U.S on PBS Kids where it was ranked as the top 5 children’s programme among kids aged 2 to 5. The toys inspired by Dinosaur Train TV series were nominated under the ‘Toy of the Year’ Award category by the Toy Industry Association, in December 2010. At the 2010 – 2011, 38th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards (Emmy ® Awards), Dinosaur Train was nominated for Outstanding Children’s Animated Program.
At the 2012-2013 40th Annual Emmy Awards, the show was also nominated under the category of “Outstanding Pre-school Animated Program” and our CEO was honored by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences as the Executive Producer of the show.
Season 3 of the Dinosaur Train series is completed and was released in the 3rd quarter of 2014.
We have also completed the production of 2 animated TV series titled Fleabag Monkeyface and Jack. Fleabag Monkeyface has been airing on CITV, ITV and GMTV in UK, ABC (Australia), Netflix (USA), Botswana Free TV (Africa), Globosat (Brazil) and is now available in Israel as well. In Singapore, Fleabag Monkeyface has been available on Mediacorp’s Toggle channel since August 2013.
Jack has been airing on Canadian broadcasters TV Ontario, Knowledge Network and SRC. Jack was also nominated for the Prix Gémeaux Award 2012 in the “Best Animated Series” category. In 2013, the series was a recent winner at the Youth Media Alliance (YMA), Award of Excellence for Best Television Program, Animation, ages 6-8 Category. Jack was also broadcasted on Zee Learn (India), True Corp (Thailand) & Vision Plus (Malaysia), and has been available on Mediacorp’s Toggle since August 2013. Season 2 of Jack is now in production and will be released by the 3rd quarter of 2014.
We have also collaborated with our Japanese counterparts, Bandai Visual Co. Ltd, Baku Enterprise Co. Ltd, and Duckbill Entertainment Inc to co-produce an animated TV series entitled One Stormy Night. The show is based on the picture book of the same title (“Arashi No Yoru Ni”) by Japanese author Yuichi Kimura. One Stormy Night has been airing on TV Tokyo since April 2012. One Stormy Night was also nominated for the “Best 3D Animated Programme” award at the 2012 Asia Television Awards. The show has been broadcasted on TV Tokyo, TV Hokkaido, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Setouchi, TV Kyushu and Animax (Korea). One Stormy Night has also been available on Mediacorp’s Toggle since August 2013 in Singapore.
As of December 2014, we have completed an animated television show entitled Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave which tells the daily adventures of 3 characters – Ruff-Ruff an excitable Puppy, Tweet a lovable and thoughtful little Chick and Dave a young quirky blue Panda.
Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave captures the dynamics of a group of real 3 to 4 year olds at play; the kind of fun that any child of that age would love to jump into. The show explores a broad range of early learning topics suitable for preschoolers in order to help young children gain a better understanding of the world around them.
Ruff-Ruff, Tweet & Dave is a co-production with Collingwood O’Hare, and in association with Sparky Animation, US broadcaster Sprout & Bejuba! Entertainment.
Ruff-Ruff, Tweet & Dave’s premiere episode was Sprout’s highest rated new program premiere since LazyTown on September 5th, 2011 and Sprout’s second highest rated premiere in household delivery ever. The show will begin airing on CBeebies this April 2015.
